It is harder than ever for French youth to find jobs. That is the opinion of a report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The economic downturn has had huge ramifications for European young people. Governments are trying to help young job seekers - but it is getting harder all the time. Only military organisations are seeing an increase in successful job applications from young people.
The report suggests that young people are feeling pessimistic about their chances of finding secure employment. The rate of 15-24 year olds unemployed in France has risen to 21% from 19%. The rate for 25+ year olds is 7%.
President Nicolas Sarkozy is to invest 1b euros to help young people find employment.
