Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. Generation Y need their parents
2000 young people have been surveyed and 88% said that they relied on their parents for advice and emotional support. Only 70% of parents thought that they were needed in that role. 94% of young people said that their relationship with parents was important to them and 84% said that parents still play a maor role in their lives. |

They think they are independent - but they are not. That is the finding of a survey by the Australian Institute of Family Studies about Generation Y - young people born since 1983.
