Introducing Pastor Steven from Rwanda:

Pastor Steven

Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day.

At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children.

Under construction

Under constructionYou have no idea how often I prayed to God to “make me better”. I yearn to be disciplined, to be focused, to be more effective, to see significant changes manifest in my life.

Guess I missed all the progress that God was making in me beneath the sawdust and hammering and seeming chaos in my life. What we fail to realise most of the time, is that when we ask God for something, He doesn’t snap His fingers or wave His majestic hand and BAM! there it is. We forget that time is inconsequential with God because He is sitting on the side of eternity, while we are ticking and tocking our way through our experiences this side of heaven.

Come to Him [then, to that] Living Stone which men tried and threw away, but which is chosen [and] precious in God's sight [Come] and, like living stones, be yourselves built [into] a spiritual house, for a holy (dedicated, consecrated) priesthood, to offer up [those] spiritual sacrifices [that are] acceptable and pleasing to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:4-5

God is the Master Architect of our lives… He drew up the blueprint and He knows how everything is going to turn out. All that He asks of us is to just chill and lay back in His love while He works on refining and shaping those precious inner parts of our spirit.

Therefore thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a Stone, a tested Stone, a precious Cornerstone of sure foundation; he who believes (trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone) will not be ashamed or give way or hasten away [in sudden panic].Isaiah 28:16

You must have sung a song about clinging to the Rock of Ages, or Christ being the ‘solid rock’ on which we stand. When are we going to believe the things we say! Yes we may feel tempted to utterly faint at the pressures forever upon us, but God wants to reassure us that it is all part of His plan. There is not one boulder, not one shattered windowpane that He hasn’t already accounted for. He wants us to hold firm onto the unshakeable foundation of faith that Jesus established through His work. So when things seem to be crumbling around you, take heart that you are ‘still under construction’ and the glorious day is approaching when the church will be perfected into the beautiful bride that the bridegroom eagerly awaits.

So this is my daily grind… to put on my hard hat of salvation and say “Here I am God… make me.”

You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone.  In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord]. In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit. Ephesians 2:20-22
