An Heroic Ministry
Introducing Pastor Steven from Rwanda:

Pastor Steven

Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day.

At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children.

Persecution of Indian Christians worsens

Previous | Next

India flagChristians are being urged not to retaliate against persecution in India. Orissan Chapter President of the All India Christian Council, Rev Pran R. Parichha, has said that such activity would be unacceptable.

But it seems that Christians continue to be inadequately protected in the Stae of Orissa. Christians are living in a state of fear as a result of recent violent outbursts against them. It is estimated that 59 Christians have now been murdered in the latest violence, 300 churches destroyed, 6,000 houses razed to the ground, 50,000 Christians displaced and 24,000 living in emergency camps. In addition, nuns have been raped and priests attacked and killed.

The violence started after the assassination of Hindu leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in August. Maoist rebels claimed responsibility by Hindu fundamentalists continue to hold Christians responsible.

Violence against Christians is beginning to spread to other parts of India and there is the urgent need for dialogue between religious and political leaders at this time.
