An Heroic Ministry
Introducing Pastor Steven from Rwanda:

Pastor Steven

Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day.

At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children.

Begging banned in Baghdad

Download
Previous | Next

Iraq flagBeggars will be cleared from the streets of Baghdad in a new Government clampdown. Since the US-led invasion in 2003, the number of street beggars has increased considerably. Many of them are children.

However, the Iraqi government is not willing to tolerate this anymore. Beggars will now be arrested. The elderly beggars will be sent to old-age homes whilst the child beggars will be sent to orphanages or youth prisons.

Begging is seen as both anti-social and a security risk because insurgents are increasingly using the homeless to perpetrate suicide bombings.
