Introducing Pastor Steven from Rwanda:

Pastor Steven

Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day.

At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children.

Nepal drive for more children to enrol at school

Previous | Next

Nepal flagEducation for all by 2015 - that is one of the Millennium Development Goals. Nepal are trying hard to reach this by encouraging more children to sign up for schools this year.

The slogan for this Government campaign is Hopes of New Nepal, Free of cost, qualitative and inclusive education for all. More than 36,000 schools and Child Development Centers are enrolling students this month.

Statistics suggest that only 8% of children are enrolled at schools - and 12% drop out at some stage. 445,000 children in Nepal do not currently have access to school education.
