Beheaded men were child criminals
Two men beheaded in Medina this week were children when they committed their crimes. Amnesty International have criticised the Saudi government for allowing the executions to go ahead, as this contravenes the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (which the country is signed up to).
The men had been convicted at the age of 17, of crimes including the abduction and rape of children, theft, and use of alcohol and drugs. It is alleged that they were beaten whilst in police custody before going on trial in secret in February 2008.
34 people have been beheaded this year in Saudi Arabia.
