Exam stress is a key reason why students are dropping out of school - so the exams are being scrapped. From 2011, three out of the five extrenal exams will be ended. The Fiji Intermediate Examination (FIE), the Fiji Eighth Year (FEYE) and Fiji Junior Certificate (FJC) will be abolished.
The exams will be replaced by continuous assessment. The first exam that students will face in the future will be at Sixth Form.
It is hoped that this move will decrease the number of students who are currently dropping out of school.
