Health experts are extremely concerned about the number of young people who are smoking in Lebanon. 3,500 people die each year in the Lebanon from smoking-related diseases.
65.8% of boys aged 13 and above now smoke. 54% of girls smoke. That is nine times higher than the national average for adults.
The developing world accounts for 70% of smokers, globally. It is feared that the Lebanon will pay a very high price in the medium-future if this trend is not reversed soon.
